The European competitions in women’s handball will resume this weekend

The Romanian tennis player, Gabriela Ruse, secured a two-set win 7-5, 7-6 against Antonia Ruzic of Croatia on Thursday, in the first round of the WTA 1000 tournament in Miami, with more than 9 million dollars in prize money. In the next round the Romanian will be up against the 15th seeded Madison Keys of the United States.
In the first round of the playoffs for the World Handball Championship in 2027, the Romanian national side clinched a 37-32 win against Turkiye. The game took place in Bolu and the best Romanian scorer was Andrei Buzle, with 8 goals scored. The return game will take place in Buzău, central Romania on March 22. The winner of the double match will be playing Norway.
The European women’s handball competitions are also to be resumed.
The Champions League will be seeing the first round of the play-offs for qualifying for the quarter finals. On Sunday, Romanian side, Gloria Bistrita will go to Ikast in Denmark. Gloria comes after a sensational win in the first Romanian league against the en titre champions CSM Bucharest, which they outperformed 21-18. This has been CSM’s first defeat since Montenegrin Bojana Popovici came to the team’s helm. CSM is directly qualified for the Champions League’s quarterfinals. The EHF European League will see its first round of the quarterfinals and Rapid Bucharest, the only Romanian side in the competition will play in Denmark against Viborg on Saturday.
This weekend will see the matches counting towards the second leg of the Romanian Football Superleague. On Thursday, Universitatea Craiova clinched a 1-0 win against Dinamo Bucharest and advanced to the first position in the ranking. On Friday, in Cluj, local side CFR will be up against Rapid Bucharest. On Saturday in Mioveni, local side FC Argeş will be playing Universitatea Cluj. On Friday FCSB will be meeting UTA of Arad while on Saturday in Clinceni, Metaloglobus plays Petrolul Ploieşti. In Miercurea Ciuc, central Romania, local team Csikszereda will be up against Farul Constanţa. On Sunday in Sibiu, Hermannstadt, on their own turf, will be taking on FC Botoşani and the leg will end on Monday with the match in Slobozia pitching Unirea against Oţelul Galaţi.
