For today’s lesson, we thought you could do with a little bit of grammar, undeservedly underrated by both native and non-native speakers of Romanian. Connectors are a rich category in Romanian. Conjunctions are used to correctly make up compound and complex sentences, and are crucial for generating and uttering authentic and correct communication chunks in Romanian.
Conjunctions of coordination circumscribe the relations of addition: si, and, neither, si…si.. which are correlative conjunctions and Nici…Nici…neither…nor…
As usual, we begin with a bunch of useful words and phrases.
The conjunctions si and iar are translated as and in English.
Mihai si Elena. Michael and Helen.
Casa si gradina House and garden
Sistemul executiv si cel legislativ= the executive and legislative system
Now let us use some phrases and words connected by si and iar in meaningful, communicative patterns:
Mihai si Elena petrec Anul Nou in Germania anul acesta.
Michael and Helen spend the New Year’s Eve in Germany this year.
Casa si gradina este titlul unei emisiuni TV in Romania.
House and Garden is the title of a TV show in Romania.
