women's handball side CSM Bucharest held to a 26-all draw their Norwegian
opponent Larvik in the Champions League. The Romanian champions eventually
managed to draw the game although the visitors had a three-goal difference two
minutes from time. In the League's second group, the Hungarian side Gyor
secured a 39-22 home win against Krim Ljubljana of Slovenia. On Sunday, in the
competition's Danish derby, Midtjylland outperformed on home turf Team Esbjerg
38-26. CSM ranks fifth in the group's standings with three points and only the
first four sides are qualified for the competition's next stage.
Romanian rugby team CSM Bucharest has managed to transfer two
Romanian internationals, Stelian Burcea and Valentin Calafeteanu, from champion
side Timisoara Saracens. Burcea has won 64 caps for the Romanian national
fifteen while Calafeteanu boasts 87. Bringing the two into the CSM's lineup is
part of a complex project put up by the CSM's new Irish coach, Michael Bradley.
Let's move on to football now. Romanian international Adrian Stoian
has scored the first goal for his team FC Crotone in the Sunday's game they won
four-one against Empoli in the 22nd leg of Italy's football
championships. Stoian has thus managed to score his second goal in the 15 Serie
A games he has played so far.
Pandurii Targu Jiu has brought to a goalless draw their friendly
game against Hungarian second-leaguer FC Szeged, the last one in their training
campaign in Antalya, Turkey. On February 3rd, Pandurii will be up
against CSM Poli Iasi in the 22nd leg of Romania's football league.
Also in a friendly
match on Saturday, Steaua Bucharest was outperformed by Slovakia's
vice-champions Slovan Bratislava, 2-1 in Belek. This Romanian side coached by
Laurentiu Reghecampf is next expected to be taking on Polish side Wisla Krakow
in a test game.
