Opened in 2009, the army-themed Arsenal Park has been drawing tourists from all over the world. The park itself also includes accommodation for over 200 people. Thrill-seekers can sleep in beds set up on gun carriages, in armoured vehicles or even in bunkers or underground luxury suites. For 2015 the Park management has announced new rides and hence new offers. Event manager Olav Bagyo says this year tourists will benefit from a development project focusing on recreational activities:

“We started this project last year, when we managed to see through part of it. The project comprises a playground for children in line with international standards. Its an ‘activity park for children aged between 3 and 13. We also managed to complete construction works for a skatepark, which is a genuine attraction for skaters and bikers from across Romania. Besides these two objectives we managed to finalise Parc Aventura, a series of six tree climbing tracks. The tracks have different degrees of difficulty. The easiest is marked yellow and is only three meters in height. The height is taken into account when setting the difficulty. Red tracks on the other hand can go as high as 20 meters. We also managed to complete 98% of bike lanes within the park.

The Easter package includes accommodation, leisure and fun activities: two nights in the Officer Room, with breakfast, “fancy lunch and “last supper included, with access to all recreation facilities, and costs 89 euros per person. Olav Bagyo has more:

“We are very close to completing another important project – the zip line. The starting point will be a water tower at 45 meters above ground level. The track will measure nearly 600 meters in length. Tourists can do Power Fan jumps from the top of the same tower. The Power Fan jump is an earlier version of bungee jumping, using a steel, fixed cable instead of an elastic cord, and an innovative breaking system, thus requiring little to no balance. The breaking system is activated automatically after 40 meters, basically stopping the user at only 30 cm above ground.

Arsenal Park also includes offers for the summer season, which is due to start on May 1. You can opt for a two- or a three-night package with accommodation in a three-star hotel, a BBQ and Party soiree, good food and fun guaranteed. Olav Bagyo told us more:

“We also have an artificial ice rink, spreading some 800 square meters. It has night lighting, just like the playground and the skatepark. We also plan on completing works for a multifunctional gym, with stands and the works, which may also be used as a conference room, with a seating capacity of 1,000 people. By the end of the year we will also have an Aqua Park, with three outdoor pools and four interior pools, with waterslides and Jacuzzi. Its a large-scale project, but we will certainly finish it by the end of the year.

A place for unlimited adventure, an open-air military museum, an unconventional playground, a recreational summer camp and a basis for tourist expeditions, the best destination for thrill seekers – this is how Arsenal Park can be described in 2015. Events will be held all around the year, says Olav Bagyo, event manager:

“The park has been already fully booked for months to come. Although it was opened in 2009, a year which was very delicate from an economic point of view, we have so far had many pleasant surprises. The number of tourists has grown from one year to the next, and we can say that in 2014 we reported the highest number of customers. We hope 2015 has some equally pleasant surprises in store for us. We have groups of offroad tourists coming in from Spain, France, Denmark and Hungary. We have been contacted by two travel agencies from China, where such activities are less widespread and considered exotic. They are particularly interested in the tactical shooting range, as firearms shooting is a sport that few people can practice in China. I know of no other similar park in Asia. I know they have all sorts of boot camps, museums of sorts, which offer something similar, but the diversity that we have is unmatched. Im not saying there arent other parks similar to ours, its just that I havent heard of them yet. And if they do exist, I would be delighted to learn more about them.

This military themed park is an ideal destination for a relaxation trip or a boot camp. During the summer you can relax by the pool or in the many gazebos throughout the park. The colourful houses in the area devoted to children will keep the little soldiers occupied during the day. In the evening you can enjoy an open-air film or a lovely campfire, which will only make your holiday even more exciting.
