Romania’s first football match in the play-off for the World Cup next year against Turkey will be hosted by the Beşiktaş stadium, in Istanbul, on 26 March 2026

The Turkish Football Federation has announced the stadium hosting the Turkey versus Romania match due on March 26, Romania’s first match in the play-offs of the World Cup next year. The match will be hosted by the Beşiktaş Stadium in Istanbul, an arena with 42,590 seats. The winner of the aforementioned game will be playing on March 31, 2026, the winner of the game pitching Kosovo to Slovakia.
Now let’s have a look at men’s basketball competitions. In Group A of the men’s EuroCup competition, Romanian side U-BT Cluj-Napoca was outperformed by Turkish side Bahceşehir College Istanbul, 84-72. The game’s fate was decided by the lackluster Romanian play mainly in the end of the game. The best player of the Romanian side was Australian Mitchell Creek, with 12 points and 5 recovers. U-BT will be playing Lithuanian side Neptunas Klaipeda within a week.
In FIBA Europe Cup, Group L, CSM CSU Oradea lost at home to Bosna Telecom 84 – 79. The Bosnian side managed a better show almost the entire match and the Romanians were left only very few moments in which they got control over the game. The best CSU player was the Romanian of American extraction, Kris Richard, with 16 points, 8 recovers and 7 decisive passes. Oradea will be up against Italian side Pallacanestro Reggiana, away on December 17.
Romanian volleyball side Dinamo Bucharest secured a three-nil win against Bulgarian side Lokomotiv Plovdiv, on their own ground on Wednesday in the round of 32 of the CEV Cup. Romania’s Champions won the match in one hour and 21 minutes. Mircea Peţa was the best player of the Romanian side. The return match will take place in Plovdiv on January 6th.
Also in the round of 32 of the CEV Cup, Corona Brasov lost to the Swiss side,
Volley Schönenwerd 3-1. Corona’s best player was the Serbian Dušan Stojsavljević, who scored 18 points. The return game is due in Brasov on January 7th.
