Untold Festival 2016

The Untold music festival, one of the largest of its kind held in Romania, opens on Thursday in Cluj Napoca.

Untold 2016, the largest music festival held in Romania, takes place between August 4 and 7 in Cluj Napoca. The organizers expect over 350,000 spectators to attend. The festivals main stage is the largest ever built in Romania, 120 meters wide. This festival boasts double the amount of equipment compared to its first edition, in 2015, when Cluj was European Youth Capital, and Untold was the main event. This year people are expected to come from all over Europe to the festival, which boasts the best five DJs in the world.

The music events feature music numbers such as Faithless, Scooter, James Arthur, as well as DJ Armin van Buuren, Tiesto, Afrojack, and Hardwell. 150 artists from Romania and from all over the world will be on stage at the festival, performing electronic, dance & trance, house, techno, drum and bass, etc. One of the most popular artists will be Inna, who boasts 12 million fans on Facebook. She sings for the first time with her band at this festival. Among the Romanian artists that will get on stage will be Smiley, Grasu XXL, Antonia, Carlas Dreams, Radio Killer, Cabron, Silviu Pasca, Nicoleta Nuca, Vanotek & Yank, Raku, Cristu, Danaga and Rodion.

So many fans have booked accommodation in the city of Cluj that places are running out. People have started renting out rooms in their homes, and university dormitories are starting to fill up too. Facebook was one of the channels by which people found accommodation in town as well. Organizers expect a bigger audience than in 2015, and security measures have been enhanced, to provide a better experience for all, but also due to the international context.

Authorities have mobilized over 1,000 police, gendarmes and community police. This comes in addition to private security hired by the organizers of the festival. Untold was named Best Major Festival at the 2015 European Festival Awards, held in Groningen, Holland. Another point of recognition was the award called 2015 Brand Name of the Year, granted by the most important national representative of the marketing and communication industry, International Advertising Association Romania. Untolds first edition, held last year, brought to Cluj over 240,000 people.
