“Romania will remain steadfast alongside the United States in defending freedom and democracy because our common weapon is more effective and the most effective is unity. The force of unity comes from our shared values.” This is the message of President Nicusor Dan at the reception staged by the US embassy in Bucharest on Wednesday in advance to celebrate 250 years since the United States declared its independence.
The head of state thanked the European and American allies for support underlying that Romania is also making efforts for strengthening regional security.
Nicuşor Dan:” NATO’s eastern flank and Black Sea region is in the first line of the Russian threats. I want to express on this occasion the profound gratitude of Romania and its citizens for the efforts made by the United States and its allies to consolidate the defence and deterrence measures in our country. But while we are grateful to all our allies, I can assure you Romania fully assumes responsibility for its own defence and contributes to the security of its partners.”
Independence Day is a very special day to Americans, the US ambassador in Bucharest, HE Darryl Nirenberg, said at the reception he hosted, which was attended by nearly three thousand invitees. It is a day when, as President Trump has said, “With a single sheet of parchment… and 56 signatures… America began the greatest political journey in human history.” The US official also referred to the US-Romania strategic partners.
Darryl Nirenberg: “Our partnership is based on shared values, rooted in western civilization, but which resonate far beyond the West: faith, family, personal responsibility and the conviction that nations are strongest when their people are free.”
Present at the event, Romania’s interim Prime Minister highlighted the US’ overwhelming influence in the world through its economic power, military force and its ability to innovate. Ilie Bolojan thanked the US troops who contribute together with their Romanian counterparts to the security of the country and safety of its citizens as well as to the US companies, which invested in Romania contributing to the creation of new jobs, technology transfers and the country’s promotion in the United States. The Prime Minister also thanked the Romanian community in the USA as well as the American community in Romania as they are bridges between the two countries and a foundation for developing bilateral relations.
