On Wednesday in Brasov, central
Romania our national women's handball team clinched a 27-24 win against
Ukraine, counting towards the 7th group of the 2020 European Championships
Cristina Laslo with 8 goals and
Eliza Buceschi with 6 proved to be the best Romanian players during the game
against Ukraine. In the same group also on Wednesday, Poland secured a 28-16
win against the Faeroe Islands. The Romanians will be up against the Faeroe
Islands in an away game on Sunday. The first two sides in each group will
qualify for the final tournament.
Also on Wednesday, Romania's men
side Dinamo Bucharest obtained a 35-28 victory in their third group D game of the
Champions League against Danish side Gudme. It was Dinamo's second consecutive
win after the one last week against Kristianstad of Sweden and the draw against
Swiss side Kadetten Schaffhausen on September 12th.
Tunisian Amine Bannou was the best
player in the Romanian side with 11 goals scored during the game. Also notable
was the show put up by Dinamo's Iranian goalie Saeid Heidarirad. Dinamo tops
the group with 5 points out of 3 games and without any defeat so far. Gudme
comes next with 4 points out of 3 games.
Polish side Wisla Plock ranks next with
2 points and fourth is the Russian team Checkhovskie Medvedi with 2 points
followed by Kadetten Schaffhausen with one point and Kristianstad with not
points. Dinamo will be playing Russian side Checkhovskie Medvedi on October 12th.
This week will be seeing the round
of 32 of Romania's Cup in football. Among the sides eliminated so far is the
country's defending champions CFR Cluj, which conceded a 6-4 defeat to FC
Botosani after the penalty shootout. The match was balanced and the score
remained 2-all 30 minutes into the extra-time. Gaz Metan Medias was another
first-leaguer eliminated after a 2-1 defeat against Foresta Suceava a football
