Disruptions affecting the workinromania.gov.ro platform could delay the implementation of certain projects and temporarily restrict the operations of companies that need workers from outside the European Union, PricewaterhouseCoopers Romania consultants have warned in an analysis of the new procedures for hiring foreign nationals. More than five months after the new rules on employing workers from non-EU countries came into force, companies belonging to international groups are experiencing difficulties registering on the platform through which employers submit the single applications required to obtain work visas. PwC points out that, as of 12 October, none of these companies was listed in the platform’s Register of Employers of Foreign Nationals, while a second disruption, affecting procedures for visas for occupations facing labour shortages, has been ongoing since September. According to the consultants, without documents that can only be obtained through the platform, companies cannot complete their registration or proceed with the hiring process. In addition, procedures for visas for occupations facing labour shortages have been suspended by the General Inspectorate for Immigration following a court ruling, the source said. Corporations are now resorting to transferring employees from other companies within their groups, PwC Romania specialists explain. The consultants note that the list of documents required to obtain a work permit for hiring foreign nationals from countries outside the European Union is broadly similar to the one used before the new procedures came into force in April 2026.

More than 18,000 people attended the event, including around 6,700 graduates of educational institutions. Following meetings with employers, 5,135 people were shortlisted for employment. The graduate job fair took place on 9 October at 63 county employment agencies and local offices across Romania, with the exception of Satu Mare County in the north-west, where the event was held on 8 October. ANOFM says that in Bihor County in the north-west, Galaţi County in the south-east, Botoşani County in the north-east, Cluj County in the north-west and Harghita County in central Romania, the event is scheduled for 14, 15, 19, 21 and 30 October respectively.
The General Inspectorate for Immigration has reminded foreign nationals who have the right to reside in Romania, as well as host entities, of their legal obligations to notify the authorities of certain changes. Foreign nationals must report the following to the local office of the General Inspectorate for Immigration that granted their right of residence: within 10 days, any change in their personal circumstances, particularly a change of name, nationality, domicile or residence, the conclusion, dissolution or annulment of a marriage, the birth of a child, or the death of a family member residing in Romania; within three working days, any change relating to their employment; and within 10 days, the extension of the validity of, or a change to, their border-crossing document. The theft or loss of border-crossing documents must also be reported to the police within 48 hours.
