Andrei Dinescu
Ana-Maria Popescu, 18.05.2025, 17:18
My guest this week is Andrei Dinescu, a young musician trained in classical music, but who has approached a variety of music genres, from rock to jazz to electronica to theatre and experimental music.
He takes a special interest in contemporary Roma music, and in one of his recent projects, “Shamanelism”, he uses music to work with convicts in Romanian prisons and youth detention centers towards their social reintegration.
I met Andrei Dinescu ahead of “Sauver la Princesse,” a performative installation by Alexandra Sand and Metodă Mesden in which Andrei took part as a guest artist on May 17 and 18. The event, produced by the French company Mesden Valley together with the French Institute in Bucharest as an institutional partner, was presented at RDW Design GO!, and it gave me a chance to find out more about Andrei Dinescu’s views on music.”
