The president of the National Liberal Party and interim PM Ilie Bolojan says the Liberals were not informed by president Nicuşor Dan regarding the nomination of their fellow Liberal Adrian Veştea for the prime minister post. Moreover, he described the president’s announcement as a hostile move and an obvious attempt to break up the party. Ilie Bolojan announced he would immediately convene a meeting of the party leaders.
In turn, the Social Democrats said they had not been consulted either, and the Social Democratic MP Mihai Fifor mentioned that the nomination and its political effects will be analysed in detail by the party’s leaders.
Last but not least, the MP Alexandru Dimitriu (USR), a former secretary of state with the justice ministry, said that under the Constitution president Nicuşor Dan should have had consultations with parliamentary parties before announcing a new candidate for the prime minister position. (AMP)
