This week on Listeners’ Letterbox: a roundup of reception reports

Every week, listeners from across the shortwave world take the time to write to us, sharing their reception conditions, describing what they heard, and telling us what RRI means to them. This week's Listeners Letterbox features eight wonderful messages. We are grateful to each and every one of you.

R.S. Vijay Kumar (Visakhapatnam, India)

“It was really sad to note from the news of RRI that the flow of Danube river in Romania is pretty low thereby reducing the electricity production which ultimately effects the consumption. On the other hand the situation in NEPAL is quite pathetic without hundreds of people died and thousands missing due to sudden flash floods there. The simple lesson is we should admire the beauty of nature and love it but not try to hamper its normal course. Instead of indulging in deadly wars with each other for some mala fide intentions, it is high time to think and act properly on climate change for the betterment of future generations at least”.

Alejandro Fernández Benítez (Madrid, Spain)

“Hi!, I’m Alejandro Fernández Benítez, Radio Sound Engineer and Podcast Sound Designer, and listener since 20/07/2026. […] The signal on 7220 kHz was very strong, with a maximum SNR of approximately 53. I noticed some moderate fading during the reception, but the program remained clearly intelligible. No signal was received on the main 9740 kHz frequency, while the alternative 7220 kHz frequency was received very well”.

Claudio Giuliani (Bologna, Italy)

“Reception report with a strong, clear signal for your station from Bologna (Italy). An MP3 file is attached!”

Frank Peter (Bürstadt, Germany)

“I enjoyed listening to your broadcast and was very pleased to receive your signal here in Germany. The transmission was an interesting part of my shortwave listening session. I would be very pleased if you could confirm this reception with a paper QSL card by postal mail. […] Thank you very much for your programme and for taking the time to consider my reception report”.

Kunihiro Yamazaki (Owariasahi City, Japan)

“I am a shortwave enthusiast living in Japan. Every day, I enjoy listening to shortwave and medium-wave broadcasts from around the world. I can’t understand complex topics or foreign languages, but I can understand a little English. Today, I listened to your station’s broadcast for a short while. Although it was sometimes difficult to make out, I was able to listen until the end of the program. It is difficult to receive your signal directly from Japan during this time slot, but I received it remotely via an SDR (software-defined radio) located in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Although the reception time was brief, I am submitting this reception report. If the information provided is correct, I would greatly appreciate it if you could issue your station’s QSL card”.
