The summer of 2026 transforms the Romanian coast into one of the most effervescent festival destinations in Europe. From ‘Beach, Please!’ (held from July 8 to 12, in Costineşti), the largest urban music festival in Europe, to NIBIRU, the new entertainment resort open between July 16 and August 30, the Black Sea coast attracts tens of thousands of tourists from Romania and abroad every day. In this context, InfoCons, the European Consumer Protection Organization, has made available to tourists a guide with essential information for a safe holiday. Constanta County (southeast Romania) has overall the largest accommodation offer in the country: 5,475 classified units, in 56 localities and resorts. During the peak season, the demand for accommodation explodes, and the risk of trap offers increases. InfoCons recommends that, before paying an advance, tourists check whether the establishment is ranked, and whether the operator has a valid authorization. Structures are officially classified by stars (hotels, villas, motels, rooms for rent), daisies (tourist pensions), flowers (agrotourism pensions); a higher number of symbols means a higher level of comfort.

Whether they eat at a restaurant, at a stand at a festival, or order online, tourists have the right to correct information. According to Romanian legislation, collective catering establishments must display, in a visible place, information about ingredients that exceed 20 grams in the preparation, as well as the nutritional content (energy value, amounts of fat, saturated fatty acids, amount of sugars and salt). The information must be accessible, easy to read, next to the product, on a board or on the menu list, and the consumer has the right to request it before ordering.

Tickets and merchandise should always be purchased from official sources to avoid counterfeit products, which are common during major events. Through the Alerts section of the InfoCons app, consumers can check which products have been identified as counterfeit or non-compliant at European Union level. In turn, prolonged exposure to music played at very high volumes can damage hearing. InfoCons recommends keeping your distance from speakers, taking regular breaks, and using earplugs for concerts, with special attention to children and adolescents.

InfoCons reminds us of the main useful numbers: Emergencies (Ambulance, Firefighters, Police) – 112; Child Protection – 119; Consumer Protection – 021-9551. If they have purchased a non-compliant product, have been charged incorrectly, have problems with accommodation or services at a festival, the InfoCons app provides access to emergency numbers in all counties of the country. Available for free in 33 languages, in the App Store, Google Play, and AppGallery, the InfoCons application brings together dozens of useful tools: the SOS button with directly dialable emergency numbers (functional and offline), checking travel agencies and accommodation units, product alerts, scanning barcodes for nutritional information, and waiting times at the border.
