Allen Dean, UK:
“Although it’s been some time since I last wrote to you, I thought with the year coming to an end I would drop you a line to let you know I’m still tuning in regularly. Even after hearing you for many, many years (my first report was back in 1968) I still find your programmes of great interest. Just to prove this point, today’s broadcast at 06.30 gave a really good selection of items giving news and events mainly concerning Romania. This is what international shortwave broadcasts are all about, so long may you continue. I look forward to continuing to hear you regularly throughout 2015.”
James O’Brien, UK:
“A very merry Christmas to you all in the English section of Radio Romania International who have worked extremely hard throughout the year of 2014 to produce and present informative and learning programs to a eagerly awaiting audience from all around the globe to hear the latest from your country. I tested both of your new winter frequencies to find that reception is still fading, your audio is there one minute and then swept away the next. So when I am having such trouble I do exactly what Mr. Cook does, also from the United Kingdom, that I heard on Listeners Letterbox, which is to refer to my Internet radio, and like Mr. Cook I never tend to give up on the shortwave as I have a lot to thank it for, like it opened up the world for me so I always make it my first place of call. On radio newsreel today you gave a short commentary in respect of the 25th anniversary of the anti communist regime that started to take place in December of 1989. I always feel a deep sadness for Romanians this time of the year as history will always remind them of the terrible atrocities that were starting to occur at this time throughout Romania. Today's music mix was very elevating, from the band Smiley with their song “I wish” on Hit of the Day, to the festive carol music performed by the “Sound” Choir conducted by Voicu Popescu, and to round things off, All That Jazz.”
Roberto Alvarez-Galloso, USA:
“My best wishes for you this Christmas and the New Year from Miami. I also want to take advantage and wish you a Happy 25th anniversary of freedom. I had the honor and pleasure of hearing Radio Bucharest [Radio Romania International] during the 1989 Revolution.”
John Rutledge, USA:
“Another excellent broadcast, I enjoyed it greatly. I particularly enjoyed all of the programs relating to and commemorating the 1989 revolution. I remember decades ago watching the revolution’s events unfold on CNN. As for listening conditions, hearing your broadcasts indoors is not very easy over here in Changchun. Fortunately, I’ve found a way to listen on the bus to work and yet still take notes while holding my coffee. Keep up the good work and I’ll keep listening.”
Joseph Pecenka, USA:
“THE SPECIAL WAS EXCELLENT. I loved hearing all about the Christmas Eve preparations of the food and table setting, and of course Christmas morning. The songs were wonderful. It was the true spirit of Christmas Thank you for a beautiful program and a belated Merry Christmas.”
Art Wormland, Canada:
“I have been listing to you and your Spanish and French service for quite some time now, even though I have not sent you a reception report for some time (he says). Thank you for your informative programmes. I really enjoy them. I proudly share what I learn with Romanian-Canadians. They are delighted to learn about you. They are pleasantly surprised to see an English-speaking Canadian has learned so much about Romania. Keep up the good work!”
