Raluca Olaru and Nadia Kichenok have
lost the doubles finals of the tennis tournament in Moscow a competition with
total prizes of 565,530 dollars. The Romanian-Ukrainian pair conceded defeat on
Saturday to Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia and Katerina Siniakova of the Czech
Republic 6-3, 4-6, 10-8. Fourth-seeded Olaru and Kicenok conceded defeat to the
second-seeded pair in a game that lasted one hour and a half.




This has been Olaru’s 24th
WTA doubles finals and this tennis player has so far won 11 titles and lost 13 finals.
Olaru and Kichenok have this year won the tournaments in Saint Petersburg and
Chicago and lost a finals in Bad Homburg.




Maria Ceplinschi of Romania came
sixth in the floor finals of the World Gymnastics Championship in the Japanese
city of Kitakyushu. The gold went to Mai Murakami of Japan and Angelina
Melnikova of Russia ranked second. The third position was occupied by Leanne
Wong of the USA




Romanian women’s handball side CSM
on Sunday obtained the third consecutive win in the present edition of the
Champions League, group A. The Romanians secured a clear 30-22 home win against
Buducnost Podgorica of Montenegro. CSM’s
best player proved to be Cristina Neagu who scored six goals. Rostov-Don and Ferencvaros
are presently ranking first and second in the group each with 8 points and Team
Esbjerg comes third with 7. The Romanians will next be playing Brest Bretagne
at home on Saturday.






Let’s now have a look at the
football matches of the 13th leg of Romania’s domestic championship.
On Friday FCU Craiova clinched a 2-0 win against Gaz Metan Medias and
Universitatea Craiova obtained a 1-0 win in Ploiesti against Chindia
Targoviste. On Saturday, FC Arges secured a 2-0 win against FC Voluntari while
the matches pitching CS Mioveni against FC Botosani and the Bucharest derby
Dinamo versus Rapid ended with the same scoring, one-all. The match in Ovidiu,
southern Romania opposing Farul Constanta to FCSB was postponed due to the
Covid infections reported in the Bucharest side and will be taking place on
November 4th.




Monday will be seeing two games
when Academica Clinceni takes on UTA Arad and CFR Cluj plays Sepsi Sfântu
Gheorghe. CFR ranks first in the table with 27 points followed by Universitatea
Craiova, with 25.
